How to complete a purchase with no realtors involved?

Made a cash offer to a seller, he's doing a FSBO. He had me call his lawyer, which I did, but this guy is very old and slow. We agreed to the offer on Monday, but no paperwork, because his lawyer is very slow. Slow as in he wanted me to type up the details I wanted and email them to him, instead of just a simple email. Then he tells me he needs my social security number for the contract, which I've never heard of and have never put in a contract when making an offer. Is it possible to just go straight to a title company and get this deal done?
