Worst experience with a handyman and what you learned

I had a handyman install a few things. The guy cut the stucco poorly enough to get a few giggles out of the stucco repairman. I haven’t had any nightmares since I really am avoiding Hackman at all cost but does anyone care to share? Also, how did you remedy the situation? I’m asking 1. Before I hire anymore handymen and 2. So i can at least have better knowledge of what to expect from handymen

Also are any of your handymen familiar with the IRC and other codes or do you keep up with it to protect yourself as oppose to relying on them. (I’m 6 chapters into the IRC book and am studying other codes cause I can’t take hackjobs)
