Healthcare - Dropping the public option

I read a report that the Whitehouse is considering dropping pursuit of the "public option" health insurance in an effort to get the healthcare reform passed....to which I said uhhhh what? The way this was presented, the whole thing was based on this public option. If you can drop the public option and still get other stuff passed in the bill as stand alone stuff....then what the heck is all this other stuff?

From the other stuff I know about that looks like it could stand alone, as best I can tell the list includes government funded abortions, healthcare for illegal immigrants and taxpayer subsidization of union healthcare plans. I'm sure I don't have a complete list - can anyone add more to see exactly what more liberal crap we're going to be expected to pay for?

Now let's get real here as real estate investors. Many of us have made offers where we know ahead of time exactly what we're going to "discard" to make it look like we're negotiating. This move by the White House shows that since this "public option" is the first offered item to be discarded....it clearly was planned to be discarded if necessary to look like negotiation. This really begs the question of what was this whole bill really about in the first place? Money to Unions? Money to Planned Parenthood? Money to Acorn? Money to California for it's roughly guessed illegal immigrant population "in anticipation" of covering their heath care costs? Sure looks like it.
