Can't find support from family or friends

I'm posting this on the off topics, hoping it's appropriate... I just need to get it off my chest since the ones closest to me sent willing to understand my growing passion. I am looking for a better life through real estate, a life that I've never had, I've never felt so passionate about something in my life, everyday I constantly stay motivated as I further self educate myself. Every time I bring up real estate investing to my in-laws or my own parents they tell me there is no money to make and how am I supposed to learn about it? My fiancée thinks I'm crazy and giggles at me when she ask about my goals are for today? I am currently making the time to write out my business strategy/plan every day, I found my niche in buy and hold, but eventually would like to venture out and find what else is out there that catches my interest, but for now I am focused on buy & hold, and every day I'm listening to pod cast and reading on the BP pages on articles about buy & hold strategies. Anyways if there is anyone out there that has experienced how I am feeling about support and self motivation please share with me their thoughts and opinions. Thank you for reading :) I look forward to meet you all! Thanks!

I feel that I am "wired" like this...have tried to mentally move on to other things, but real estate investing continues to be my passion since I first started, about 16 years ago.  Thank goodness my husband is OK with my passion, and he will support me in my endeavors.  But it isn't his thing.  He says he makes the money and I grow it.  That works for me!  :D

If you are still passionate, use your reading and listening to become an expert.  You know how it is said it takes 10,000 hours to become an expert at anything?  Well, why not become an expert?  You can work to buy and improve your own residence to start.  And then roll into another.  And another.  It can be a slow business, to acquire buy-and-holds.  Slow and steady.  I'd be happy to buy a new owner occupied home every year!  I already think of myself as a serial mover.  You could also get your license and work full time as a Realtor, or in the lending, appraisal, construction, insurance, title arenas.  It is a big segment in which to find employment, should you choose that.

Of course, there is money to be made!  The more people you serve, the more money sticks to you...it is how the world works.  But there are probably other areas that draw you to real estate, besides the money.  I like improving my community, one house at a time.  I like taking a "problem" house off of someone's hands and lifting the burden of that off them, as with pre-foreclosures, or probates. I like problem solving, and using creative thinking to work through a deal.

If this speaks to you, stay the course. Set some goals and aim diligently for them. Do not change headings. Join a REIA or find a BP meetup and talk with others. That is great therapy! :D
