Help with navigating Austin Texas
Hi community,
I know I can google all these concerns and questions I have got, but I would like to hear an opinion from YOU.
After BP Con, I am going to be visiting Austin with the intention of moving there no later than 2 months after the visit.
A little background - I've been living in Wisconsin for the past 2 years after previously living in Phoenix, AZ for 5.5 years, but moved back because I could not stand the 120F days. The second reason was Real Estate and prices in AZ. At the time the only way of investing I thought that existed was with a lot of cash and I did not have much of it. Since moving back to WI, I was able to accomplish what I came back for and that is to dip my toes in the Real Estate game and I was able to purchase an amazing property with amazing numbers.
However, here I am today with a lot more knowledge and a lot move motivation to do great things after acquiring that knowledge. Unfortunately, where I live the people's mindset is not similar to mine and I want to move somewhere where it is growing rapidly and there are plenty of opportunities.
For the visit, I would like if people recommend places for visit such as parks, neighborhoods and anything that comes to your mind when you are told to recommend a location to a tourist. PLEASE do not forget to mention the best BarBQ joint in the city lol.
I will also would like to hear opinions about PROs and CONs of the city.
After the move I will be looking for Househack preferably a Duplex and above up to 4 units, however I am not sure how many MF residences are in Austin area as oppose to SF and the internet is not really helpful with that.
I also heard that you people who live there have problems with the high property taxes.
Any comments and suggestions are welcomed!
Thank you in advance for taking the time in helping!

@Galen Ikonomov I'd love to talk! I lived in Minneapolis for quite a while and moved to Austin a few years back in search of warmer weather and the growth oriented mindset. I love the city and the abundance mindset of all of the people here. I joined Gobundance right when I moved also and there's a huge group of entrepreneurs and real estate investors here. I also still personally househack a duplex and am starting the search for my 5th.
The cons are definitely the homeless problems we're having but they're taking care of that and I'm confident that those people will be helped. You also mentioned the high property taxes but we don't have any state income tax so you come out ahead unless your income is lower.
I love Stiles Switch and Terry Blacks for BBQ but could also always go for Rudy's. As far as things to do check out Zilker Park, Barton Springs Ladybird Lake, 6th st, Rainey st, Circuit of the America's and we also have a huge comedy scene now with Joe Rogan leading the way. Lake Austin and Lake Travis are great if you can get access to a boat also.
Reach out when you're in town. I'm always up to grab BBQ and talk real estate.
