NW Indiana - New Investor

Hello my fellow Hoosiers!

I moved from Chicago to Chesterton, IN more than a year ago and I love it here. I am Electrical engineer by profession, worked in Diagnostic Imaging service industry for more than 13 years. My wife is in medical profession and we have a beautiful 4 year old daughter.

I joined Bigger Pockets in 2015, mostly to learn more about Real Estate, see what other investors are doing to achieve their goals and connect with some of them. Since then I've invested, as a limited partner, in two lucrative syndication deals, valued at nearly $40 Million. Also, I provided funding (private money loans) for three multi-family flips in Chicago market, done by an experienced local investor, where I was able to familiarize myself with a mechanics of a successful flip. Yet, during all this time, besides my family, the daily job was my number one priority and the place where I would focus most of my energy.

Now in 2021, I've evolved to the point that it's my time to jump into Real Estate as an active investor to achieve the above average returns by acquiring (myself or partnering with another investor) multi-unit properties in my backyard, NW Indiana, from East Chicago to Michigan City. My focus are 3 to 20 units properties in good areas (B), that would have a space for me to add value, streamline the operations, increase the NOI and make them the places where people would be proud to live in. Exit strategy would depend on many factors but my ideal plan would be 4-5 years hold.

I am learning this market and already talked with several RE agents and lenders in the area. One of my main goals now is to connect with more local investors and investor friendly RE agents in the NW Indiana. I am open to share my plan with everyone, learn from others and help others in any way possible. If you have any tips/advice or just want to share real estate stories, I would love to connect!

Thanks!
Alex
