building near flood zone
i am looking at buying a 0.25 acre city lot near where i live. the lot is partially sitting in a flood zone, but not where the driveway, or the build site will be. i'd be buying this property to eventually build a spec house. any advice on this? thanks!

Good Morning Adam,
There are two things I would suggest. The first is to have this discussion with your insurance agent/broker. They may be able to give you some insight on ability and cost to insure. When building on this lot I would over engineer the home. Build it as if it were sitting IN the flood zone because sometime in the next hundred years it probably will be. I hope this helps.
Best.
