Looking for a home in the Destin, Fort Walton, Niceville Areas

Hey everyone,

I recently purchased my first property in Jacksonville, North Carolina and have had it up for rent since May. It has been very smooth and I'm completely addicted to the REI world. So next up, I'm going to be moving to the Fort Walton Beach area of the Florida panhandle. I'll be using my VA loan to buy a house and house hack until I get stationed elsewhere.

I am trying to learn the market from North Carolina and there is a big difference. For one, there are a lot more condos and townhomes in the area. I've been kind of weary of condos because of a fear that the board may raise HOAs or cut rentals out someday. Townhomes look promising but I don't know too much about them.

If anyone has any insight on condos and townhomes as well as some really good rental turnover neighborhoods in the towns I mentioned, it would be greatly appreciated! We could throw in Crestview as well.
