Advice for College student

Austin Miller

Hi everyone,

I am a college student studying real estate currently getting my real estate license on the side. I am really interested in real estate investing I’ve read multiple of the bigger pockets books and have listened to a bunch of the podcasts.

I’m struggling with what I can do now as a college student with no funds- I realize I need connections and experience but, am struggling on where to find those resources especially in a pandemic.

I really appreciate any advice you guys would have to offer and thanks in advance.

Hey Austin,

Glad to hear you are eager to get into the REI game. I would recommend you do the following:

* If you are interested in becoming an agent maybe stop by a few realty offices, introduce yourself and tell them you are interested in real estate and would like to know if there are any openings available. Even if they just have you doing office related work, it will be the start of your experience. You will learn a lot and meet new connections this way.

* Find REI Facebook groups in your area. For example, if you live in Austin Texas, just type Austin Texas real estate and you should get a few hits. Subscribe to those list and ask about local meetups. Find a few, show up, and meet some new REI buddies.

* Search the Bigger Pockets events section. There may be an event upcoming in your area.

I do believe between these three options, you will get started. Don't be afraid to put yourself out there an introduce yourself to anyone and everyone. Tell them you are a inspiring investor and looking to learn.

Good luck and enjoy the ride!
