New investor in Alaska/Texas

Hey Everyone!

My name is Mitch, and while I've browsed the site for a few years, this is my first time posting.

For the past four years or so, the longest I've been in one place is about five months.   Working online allowed me to try the "digital nomad" thing, so I worked out of co-working spaces and coffee shops while I traveled for a year or so and lived in about a dozen countries.  After that, I went and guided whitewater rafting in Alaska and fell in love with the state.    I spent a winter in Colorado as a musher (dog sled driver) and living the ski bum life near Aspen,  but I knew I wanted to get up to Alaska permanently.  All this was incredible, and I'm glad I did it, but it made investing pretty much impossible.

I finally moved up to Anchorage permanently in June and started looking at some real estate.  Just when I thought I'd be settled for a while, I got an offer from a good friend to come work for him in Texas.  I'm currently in Waco working on finding off market deals and learning the business from him.

My goal is to buy and hold. I see a lot of opportunity in Alaska for STR's, as well as traditional rentals. I'd love to invest in the Texas market at some point as well.

Looking forward to learning a lot and getting connected with some like-minded folks on here!

Cheers,

-Mitch
