BP NEWBIE REAL ESTATE INVESTOR

Hey BP community! I am a married, 24 year old who is currently moving to the Fort Worth, Tx area for graduate school. I am completely new to the world of Real Estate investing. The reason I am getting into real estate is to be able to have a passive income for my family. I still want to work my job while doing real estate. I am currently working through the idea of building wealth through single - family home rentals.

If anyone could throw any pointers my way that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

@Jordan Blake Locke Welcome! You're starting in a great spot with creative-minded investors. I always believe that if you are trying to understand the scope of Bigger Pockets, and topics found in the forums and blogs, AND get into REI, read How to Invest in Real Estate by Brandon Turner. It is a great beginner book, and it's actually 20% off until tomorrow I believe. I recommend buying the ultimate package because it has some great videos, interviews and bonus content.

That's where I would start educationally. Other than that start reading about different strategies and analyze your local market to find the best deals that fit the best strategies. And really, you're going to hear about a lot of different strategies and a lot of different success and horror stories related to different real estate decisions. Maybe even the ones you're thinking of getting into. Your market will warrant only certain strategies usually, but I recommend finding one that makes the most sense to you and works well in your market. And just stick to it! With smart investing and the right team, you'll win.

Good luck!
