Advice for a New Real Estate Investor

Hi BP members! I am a new member looking for some advice. Recently came into some money and am looking to invest in real estate.  Tired of paying rent instead of building equity. Any advice and guidance would be much appreciated.

Note: I currently live in D.C. with roots in Pittsburgh, PA. So I am looking to invest in either locations.

@Logan Karanovich welcome to BP.  We have a LOT of members from the greater DC area. One person you should follow @Russell Brazil.

As far as guidance, I would say don't invest your money until you get some knowledge. There are as many bad deals out there as there are good deals. Be picky. For a start you might want to check out the beginners guide under the education tab above.
