new invester looking into duplex in san antonio

Im new to investing and was looking around and got overwhelmed with everything im stationed in Washington state looking to invest in multifamily homes in the san antonio area i would like to live in one side and rent out the other till i'm done with school just wondering what are the areas/zip codes/ streets i should be looking into and which ones should i be avoiding i haven't been to san antonio in 5 years and even then it was for downtown so i don't really know the area that well.

You probably need to spend a few days or even a week to get the lay of the land in any city. San Antonio is spread out over most of Bexar (say - BEAR) County which is over 1000sq mi. and has over 2mil people.

I tell people coming to town that they should rent for 6 months. This way they can get around and see what they like or dont like. THEN they can think about buying something.
