Eric a newbie from NY

Hello all, My name is Eric and I've been listening to the BP podcast for a while now and I'm looking to take that first step. I work a job in Alaska during the summers flying helicopters. It's my dream career so my real estate goals are not to replace my work. I would like to achieve financial independence with passive income from real estate. Short term goal is to find a place for me to live in a duplex or bigger and house hack it and even try AirBnB on my half because I'm gone a lot. Location for me is someplace with a warm winter. Long term I'm looking at building passive income through commercial (really like the idea of storage unit complexes) and residential real estate. Open to turnkey and I have about 100k ready to invest (Doesn't all have to be spent on one unit). Here to get ideas, network and research the best strategies. Thanks again BP community
