Just getting Started in the Baltimore Metro Area
Hi everyone! My name is Jenna and I am just getting started in the amazing world of real estate investment. Over the last several years I really started thinking, "there MUST be a better way to earn a living than trading MY time for money". I dabbled in a few small business ventures, but at the end of the day I was still doing the same thing... Trading my time for money.
The Bigger Pockets podcast was recommended to me by a friend, @Patrick Reid and I've invested MANY hours listening to the shows in the last two weeks (I have some long commutes). The podcasts led to reading Robert Kiyosaki's book Rich Dad Poor Dad, which led to reading the Rental Property Investing book by @Brandon Turner (Shout out by the way, we have the same last name!) Which finally encouraged me to make the jump and engage on the forums. I have 3 more books queued up in Audible and I'm excited to learn more.
I've started to really lay out my plan and I would like to purchase my first investment property by December of 2019. The idea of rental properties is intriguing because of the hands on approach to investment and the long term cash flow it can create. Rehabs/flipping is also something I am looking at pursuing because of the satisfaction of taking something ugly and making it pretty and the ability to do some of the work myself. I've heard the words "Tax Lien Certificates" and "Notes" come up in different information I've read and while these concepts are foreign to me, I am interested to learn more about how they can fill out the "asset" column in a portfolio.
A huge thank you in advance for your help and support! I welcome any tips, hints, advice, nudging, etc and really look forward to immersing myself in this arena!
All the best and Happy Holidays!
Jenna
