Hello From Gillette Wyoming

Hello bigger pockets!

I'm Daric Myers and I'm currently from Gillette Wyoming.

My wife and I started our adventure together in 2004.  We got married at 19 and moved to Colorado.  We were living in a high end 2 bedroom apartment.  A few months later my wife's mother and sister moved in with us.  It was my idea, I just want all to know.  Anyway, we realized pretty quick that four people in a two bedroom apartment was going to lead to someones horrific death.  So, we purchased a 3/1.5  condo.  You can cringe, it's okay.

So, here we are.  Two 20 year old newly weds/full time students, a Mom, a Sister, and 3 cats in a 3 bedroom condo.  Eventually Mom got back on her feet and moved out just as things were hitting the fan in the real estate market.  But, we didn't want to move, and it couldn't get that bad, right?

We purchased the house at 142k and we watched people fire sale properties for 100k, 60k, 30k, and some foreclosed.  At one point I think we were the only people on the block wondering what in the hell do we do.

Eventually prices began to rise, I think do to the recent legalization of the devils lettuce.  Through a well timed hail storm we collected a check and began renovations to get our condo ready to sell.  We hung on and sold for 180k.  We paid off some credit card debt and decided to move home.

My dad had a place he bought that he didn't have time to work on, so we moved in with my wife's grand parents and got to work.  It was awful.  Dog pee smell emanated throughout the house, and one bedroom looked like the animals were left for months without being let out.  We got it all fixed up and sold it for 250k.  I think we just about broke even, but the learning experience on these two properties will be with us forever.

Things were looking up, but I started a hotshot delivery service right before oil crashed in 2014.  I closed my business and now with roughly 150k in debt am hungry for real estate.

Now, we've downsized into a 3 bedroom apartment which is pretty tight with our two wonderful children.  My goal is to work on house hacking 4 plex in the area and eventually move south, not exactly sure where yet.

Thanks
