New Orleans Newbie Intro

Robert Burger
Posted

The wait is over, everyone! I'm finally here!

When I'm trying to sound real serious, my name is Robert, but I mostly go by Robbie. Aside from the inordinate amount of time I spent getting my engineering degree at LSU, I've always lived in the New Orleans metro area. I'm married with two young boys and started looking down the real estate education rabbit hole so I might eventually be able to ditch the JOB and spend more time with them.

I've been trying to educate myself for a couple months and figure it's time to actually do something before the "analysis paralysis" sets in. I'm lucky enough to have a retirement account from a former job and available equity from my home to give me a solid starting point. I'm interested in single and multi-family rentals (BRRRR), as well as some flips. Like many of us who have lived here for our entire lives, I have acquired some very good DIY skills from renovating my flood damaged homes, plus the homes of friends and family. Also, my engineering background lends itself well to the numbers side of things - we love to analyze! Trying to add value in any way possible in order to learn the little details that only pop up when actually doing deals. I can't wait to get connected with people in the area who have the same passion and a lot more experience.

Looking forward to building the great relationships I read about in here all of the time!

Nice to e-meet you Robert. I am Aussie that has recently moved to NOLA and am looking to start an investment business centred around Multi-Family Property. I have bought property in Australia and built a tech company to 300 employees but am still trying to get my head around the US market (It is very different, so lots of new Vocab and strategies to learn)

I went to my first NOREIA meeting recently and found that everyone was friendly and the information was great. I will be there tomorrow night so make sure you say hi.
