Hey Stephen, that’s awesome! My sister actually moved to Australia a couple years ago. I’ll definitely look for you tomorrow.

Thanks @John Lewis, I’m hoping to make some connections and get a few recommendations on good lawyers, cpa’s, contractors, etc.

Thanks @Braden Smith! I see that you're very active and helpful with all the locals on here. I will definitely bother you with questions in the future. If you have time, maybe we could have a talk on the phone or even have a quick drink sometime.

Are you a member of NOREIA? I'm planning to attend the meeting next week and was wondering how receptive people are to the new folks.

Very cool, Demetrice! My grandfather actually attended the Naval Academy and then became a commercial airline pilot. Best of luck in school and with your real estate journey. I wish I would have learned this stuff when i was your age. I'm sure I'll be reading about you in Forbes in a few years.

The wait is over, everyone! I'm finally here!

When I'm trying to sound real serious, my name is Robert, but I mostly go by Robbie. Aside from the inordinate amount of time I spent getting my engineering degree at LSU, I've always lived in the New Orleans metro area. I'm married with two young boys and started looking down the real estate education rabbit hole so I might eventually be able to ditch the JOB and spend more time with them.

I've been trying to educate myself for a couple months and figure it's time to actually do something before the "analysis paralysis" sets in. I'm lucky enough to have a retirement account from a former job and available equity from my home to give me a solid starting point. I'm interested in single and multi-family rentals (BRRRR), as well as some flips. Like many of us who have lived here for our entire lives, I have acquired some very good DIY skills from renovating my flood damaged homes, plus the homes of friends and family. Also, my engineering background lends itself well to the numbers side of things - we love to analyze! Trying to add value in any way possible in order to learn the little details that only pop up when actually doing deals. I can't wait to get connected with people in the area who have the same passion and a lot more experience.

Looking forward to building the great relationships I read about in here all of the time!
