Newbie from Southern California!

Hello BP world, my name is Joseph Park. I'm 28 years old, live in Orange County, & work as a Firefighter for a municipal fire department in the Los Angeles area.

I'm just getting my feet wet with real estate, and have been listening to the BiggerPockets Podcast for the last several weeks and reading a few "staple" RE books. From the little I've been exposed to so far, I'm most interested in multi-family properties (particularly four-plex) as an owner-occupied investment property for my very first property purchase. 

As I understand it, this is currently a seller's market in my local areas (Los Angeles & Orange County) and I'm utilizing this time to save aggressively for my down payment (likely utilizing an FHA loan) and learn as much as I can to identify & make an opportunity in the near future. If there is any local real estate meet-ups or conventions, I would love to learn more!

@Joseph Park welcome to BP.  I would suggest that you check out some local meetup groups here in Orange County.  Find out what type of Real Estate you are interested in and focus your attention there.  I want to introduce you to 

@Peter Mckernan who runs the Irvine meetup and does what you do 9-5.  He has lots of information for you to absorb.
