California Newbie REI
Hello!
My name is John Ross and I recently got into Real Estate Investing. My current focus is to start wholesaling since all of the posts I've read said that it is a good place to start. I'm currently looking around the Central Valley in California for deals.
What am I doing so far?
Reading the book Finding & Funding Great Deals: The Hands-on Guide to Acquiring Real Estate by Anson Young. I'll be blogging my progress, you can read about it here.
Market Analysis. Looking around my town for areas that have a high concentration of Cash Buyer Interest. I've recently found a town with a lot of buyer activity and will start with the next step in generating leads for property.
Networking with Real Estate Agents around my area.
I would love any advice and I'm open to all of your suggestions!
John, it sounds like you're on the right track. Keep learning and networking, and before too long you'll be ready to make moves. Trust your instincts when its time to start making offers on properties and don't let analysis paralysis take over. Good luck!

Hello and welcome! Best of luck to you!
@John Ross Valderama House hacking is also a good place to start.
@John Ross Valderama Around here it means buying a 3-4-unit property, living in one of the units, and renting out the others, essentially living for free.

Welcome @John Ross Valderama!
A great place to start is with real estate investment meetups in your area or the area you want to wholesale in. BiggerPockets has a great list here: https://www.biggerpockets.com/rei/real-estate-clubs/
Also, I'm guessing you need ways to find motivated sellers. I wrote a few BiggerPockets blog posts on how to network and find deals both online and offline, check them out:

Happy hunting and feel free to reach out if you need anything.
Cheers!
