Long-time BP podcast lurker and amateur investor here located in northeast Italy. Originally from the Nashville, TN area, my wife and I quit our secure, well-paying jobs, sold our primary residence and moved here to her hometown to fulfill a dream - a dream of eating pasta and drinking wine every single day.*

Anyway, back to the point! Real estate experience:

• Strong upbringing and previous work experience in home repairs/construction
• First primary residence purchase was a foreclosure that we lived in and flipped (sweat equity!)
• Currently own one occupied, single-family home in Detroit, MI

Welcome @Benjamin Ware - are you looking at buying real estate in Italy, or investing back in the states? As a quick thought, I would think you could do extremely well buying places to do as short term rentals or Airbnb in Italy. I could see a lot of travelers liking the fact your wife is from there but you being from the states, a sort of best of both worlds for hosts.
