Newbie real estate investor

Hi everyone,

I'm new to bigger pockets. I've been listening to the podcast for a few months now which has prompted me into taking action and getting started on becoming an active real estate investor.

I live in San Diego and the costs of properties are really high for me to buy and hold and have a positive cash flow every month. So I believe remote investing is the way to go.

Since I'm a beginner and have never owned any real estate, to get started seems scary and overwhelming especially since I'm looking at remote investing to start as opposed to locally where I can go take a look at the properties myself and physically interact with the real estate agents, building inspectors, lenders etc.

I'm sure there are others in this forum who have been in my position at some point or at least I hope.

Can anyone help me get started?  Perhaps share what worked for them when they were in my position?

Thanks so much!
