Intro: Boulder,CO newbie ready to dive in !

Hi BP community!  Chad Smith here... Currently live in Boulder,CO; Been here for last 15 years.  Originally from MD, Baltimore area.  Been an engineer in the tech industry for better part of 25 years and am looking to get out from behind a computer and do something more fulfilling moving forward. After a successful exit of the startup I worked for, I'm looking towards getting into real estate as the next possible chapter of my working life that will hopefully help me sustain my love for the outdoors and some travels.

I stumbled upon BP while looking for investment properties and trying to educate myself after reading "Rich Dad Poor Dad", which was an eye opening thought process for me.  After a bit of exploring I decided that this was the site for me moving forward and immediately signed up.  Looking to absorb all I can and learn from you, the community and experts, and hopefully give back as well at some point.

Currently I own 1 rental property, my old townhouse, and my current house; both here in Boulder.  I'm interested in a myriad of things but need to figure out what to focus on.  Interested in single-family, multi-family options; in CO or out of state where I can find deals that may be better.

Goals:  I'm sure I have more development to do here but overall, I want to get to a point where I have real estate assets that will allow me to comfortably "retire"; which really means allow me to support my lifestyle reasonably, while I explore other forms of "work/volunteering" that I can be passionate about.  But also to have something tangible to hand down to family.

There is a meetup in Erie on February 7. There is a Denver meetup at BiggerPockets HQ on February 8 (Advance reservations required). Local meetups are a great way  to get in tune with the local market. 

Longmont has BLOWN UP in the last couple of years. Loveland is interesting, as are Greeley and Evans. All three cities are really growing and real estate is booming.
