Newbie house hacker hopeful - Chicago, IL

I currently work in downtown Chicago, consulting as an urban designer and planner. With a background in architecture, urban planning & design, I have always been personally invested in neighborhoods and development, but have never purchased a property. I am looking forward to meeting other professionals on the same journey who can guide me, or learn alongside me!

As for my near-term goals, I am looking to complete my first house hack with a 3-4 unit building before August 2018 on the NW side of Chicago.

 Welcome!  BP is definitely the place to be.  I started off as a house hacker myself and now own over 30 properties.  If you PM me your email address I can send you examples of North side properties so you can see what kind of numbers to expect.  We also have a meetup group that meets on the 3rd Tuesday and there are plenty of house hackers there you can talk with about getting started
