Hello BiggerPockets!
I've lurked here for a while and decided that it was finally time to create a profile and get serious about real estate. My name is Brandon Pace and my wife and I travel the world in the Foreign Service moving from country to country every couple of years with our 3 kids. It's a fun and challenging lifestyle but we enjoy it. I grew up in a Foreign Service family as well so I've never lived in one place for more than 3 years.
We've always had real estate in the back of our mind but being overseas all the time we don't have roots in any one place in the US. Right now we're in the DC area for a year before our next assignment and I wanted to use this opportunity to get into one or two properties before we move on. We're heavily invested in the stock market and I want to diversify some of that money into real estate.
Some areas that we have some connection to (family or otherwise) that we're considering are the Hendersonville, NC - Greenville, SC area, Kannapolis, NC, and Florida. Open to other areas too since we're not settled in anywhere but definitely want to get to know the areas well. I'd really like to get into a good multi-family unit that cash flows well. Have capital to invest so just need the right property.
I've done some digging into turnkey companies but I'm a little hesitant based on mixed reviews. Given the right company and circumstances I'm considering it as an option.
Right now I'm suffering from analysis paralysis. Having trouble just locking down an area and then committing. Would love to sync up with some folks agents/property managers etc. in these areas to try to really narrow down where I'm looking and get something put together! Right now I find myself just looking endlessly at MLS listings which isn't getting me anywhere.
I've read tons of forum posts and listened to many of the podcasts. Really appreciate this community as it's given me a lot of great information and motivation.
