New REI in Southern California - San Bernardino County

Hello everyone, my name is Stephen and I'm a newbie getting into real estate investing with my wonderful girlfriend Selina. She turned me on to the BiggerPockets podcasts, and we've been working together recently to try to make our way in real estate investing.

That being said, I have no experience in real estate outside of the articles and videos I've read and watched from BiggerPockets. I'm currently a student studying math/chemistry and work part time as a tutor. I'm also learning to do bookkeeping for a friend's company.

My broad goal for real estate investing is to earn enough money to be financially independent. To start, I would like to begin renting out multi-family homes.

I'm excited (and a bit nervous) to start being a real estate investor, but I'm looking forward to the experience. I hope that I can learn a lot from everyone here and contribute in my own way.

Welcome to BP! @Stephen Smith, getting started with education is always a good idea. I recommend you going onto meetup.com and start looking for local real estate around you and network!
