Newbie from Trenton, NJ (Central NJ) - Focusing on BRRRR
Hi all!
New investor looking to jump in over the next 30 days after I square away my initial education/discovery and finalize my LLCs and prepare the banking and trusts.
I'll be focusing on rental properties in my backyard while looking at turn-key out of state as well. My goal is 30 properties in the next 3 years, starting with 5 in the next 12 months. I'll be focused primarily on multi-family homes but also open to SFR to supplement my portfolio.
I live in Robbinsville NJ, a few miles from Trenton, NJ. I am actually a transplant from Los Angeles and moved here with my wife in 1997. Strange, right?
I'm a W2 earner as an IT executive for a large insurance and financial protection firm based out of Manhattan. I've spent 20 years building wealth only to find that i really only have 'savings' that is certainly going to take a hit at the next economic downturn. Tired of that....
My wife has been in real estate for years and she and I are looking to build a family business together and change the paradigm of how we view retirement and financial Independence, and bring this education and experience to our kids.
Hope everyone is having a fantastic time in your life journey, and looking forward to connecting!

Hi @Kent Leigh and welcome to the community! I echo much of what your saying here with similar experiences and mindset. Not only that... I live in Robbinsville! I'm a newbie to this game implementing strategies I've learned over the course of 4-5 months (BP is one of my resources). Have you joined any local REIAs yet? I highly suggest you come to one of our meetings. There are 2-3 meetings weekly. Take a look on our site SJREIA.com for the calander of events. Great group of people with topics galore to expand your knowledge and to network with other investors, contractors, lenders, etc.
I'm commited to this full-time (I was a W2 earner and left to pursue this!) and I'm local, so let me know if you ever want to meet up and chat more. I can share what I've done so far and what I've experienced as well... good and bad!
