New Guy from Queens, NY
Hi everyone,
My name is Patryk and I'm new to the Queens area in New York. I've been listening to the BP podcast now for the last few months and finally got serious about making a profile on here and getting involved in the real estate community.
I'm 22 years old and originally from Denver. I moved to NY to take a job opportunity. I've managed to build up a little bit of savings and I'd like to start somehow investing and building some horizontal income streams.
I was hoping to get some advice from the community to really narrow down my focus and find my niche. Currently, I'm either interested in somehow investing in a rental property in Colorado, most likely a low cost single-family home, or a New York apartment, probably a low cost co-op (it seems like it's the only thing available that I can afford out in NY).
Could anyone provide me with any starting points or guidance so I can properly start my due diligence for either one of my strategies, being:
- Investing in an out of state rental property in Colorado.
- Investing in a rental co-op in a low income NY neighborhood.
Thank you and and info is much appreciated!

I've been investing in Denver for 20 years and actually just picked up another 6 properties in the past year to add to my portfolio. Surprisingly, though the prices have escalated so have the rents so the cap rates are very solid. Especially for such an outstandingly strong market as Denver. Great comments and feedback throughout this thread, if you want to talk more about Denver real estate feel free to message me.
