Hello from NYC looking to break into rentals in PA

Hey all,

Just to give a back ground, I'm 34 years old in retail investment industry.    I bought my first property when I was 26 here in New York a small coop in a good location.  Sold it this year with 100k profit!

But that luck in a sense the area did extremely well due to foreign buyers in my area and I bought the property in 2010 which was close to bottom of the housing market.

I've taken great interest in the BRRR method, but I cannot do it here, as 3 bedroom houses are a million a piece.

I'm looking into PA Bloomsburg area but must do some research to see where the hot markets are.  Would speaking to an agent in that area be a start?  I would like to go for 100k and under homes as my liquid cash is only about 200k.

Anyway, nice to meet you folks, if anyone is in PA would love to pick your brai

Hey Dave!  What made you pick out Bloomsburg area?  I am about 20 minutes away, just finished renovating and renting a Duplex in Milton which isn't too far.

What are your goals? SFH? Multi Family? There are some stable areas around Bloomsburg that you might consider. I can definitely be of some help as I am in Bloomsburg everyday and I also have a good local network. Let me know if you want to chat!

Hi Shayne!

I chose Bloomsburg because it's not too far from where I am, and the prices are affordable.  Also there seems to be a healthy community of professionals.

I'd love to chat with you as I want to start right away.  My goal is multi family homes maybe 2, 3 at max.

I'm looking to build residual income, I'm green as you can tell, good thing is I know everything there is to know about lending and bank side, so shoot off any questions you may have!

I would love to chat!

@Dave Lee I'm actually a short drive from Bloomsburg. I live in Danville, which is another equally great opportunity for rentals. I'm currently doing the BRRR method with my personal residence. I'm always on the look out for properties that can increase equity. I also know a great Realtor in Bloomsburg, who could offer you some insight into the market. Best of luck.

hi Jacob,

Thank you.  I'm eager to start but I need to do my due diligence.  I'd love to link up with your realtor if possible.

@Jacob Plocinski Hey Jacob, have you come across any properties in Danville that caught your eye? I'm moving back to PA next spring and I've been looking at several PA markets and Danville stood out because of the quality of the schools and price points are still low. Schools really seem to be on the low end of the spectrum for the most part in the more rural areas of the state. It looks like it could be a great spot to invest.
