Hi everyone! New member from Portland, OR
I am not only new to Real Estate, I am also new to Oregon! I just moved up here 6 months ago from Houston, TX but am from San Diego, CA. I moved here to be near my sister and her kids and to start working towards creating a life for my future family.
My sister is an interior designer and we have always talked about doing fix and flips together once I finally moved here. So I knew that was the industry I wanted to get in. The only problem was I have virtually no experience in that industry. I joined the Marines when I was right out of high school, and ever since I got out in 2009 I have been in sales.
I spent last summer doing project management/sales for a roofing company in Omaha, NE and I was really good at it so I figured I could get an entry level project coordinator/manager job. Well, with not much formal experience, that was easier said than done. So, I decided to just take an entry level position at a flooring company just to get my foot in the door. So that is what I have been doing for the last 6 months along with working part time at Amazon.
So how did I decided to become an investor?
It all started with a Facebook ad from a Real Estate investor guru for a free webinar. I knew going into it that he would be asking for money for some program at the end, but I decided to check it out anyway. Long story short, I got sucked into borrowing the 500 dollars from my dad to buy the program. It had a money back guarantee, so I basically spent the next few weeks going through the program and learning everything I could. I was hooked. I knew this is what I wanted to do with my life. So I got my dad's money back and hit the web!
It didn't take long to figure out BiggerPockets was going to be my ticket to success, so here I am! I am addicted! I only found out about the BP podcasts last week and have already listened to the first 24 shows and counting!
I know this business is far from easy and so I am ready to devote my blood, sweat and tears into becoming a successful investor. I want to thank BiggerPockets for giving me this amazing tool to help me along that path!
Well, that's all for now. I look forward to meeting you all!
Best Regards,
David Marsceau
