New member in downtown Chicago, IL

Hi all,

I just moved to the downtown Chicago area from Florida and I'm very excited to start a new journey here! Over the years I've done lots of research and realize the great potential in real estate investing, so I'm eager to get started. Being relatively young, I've never had the capital to really get started; however, I've saved some capital to start, I'm in a great city, and I have a great job, so I believe I'm ready to finally take the plunge! I am currently a civil engineer, specializing in airport design on some of the busiest airports in the country.

My goal in real-estate investing is to pursue the buy and hold strategy, particularly with downtown apartments at first (demand for apartment renting in Chicago has been growing in the upper 500,000s by 1-2% annually since 2010). Over time I want to build a diversified portfolio of assets to generate a steady flow of part-time passive income and maybe even achieve financial independence!

I have lots to learn and I hope to meet a great network of people on this site and in my local community!
