Hello, I'm a Software Engineer and Options Trader, I first got into investing about three years ago when I started learning how to trade options. I have zero experience with real estate investing. I first became interested in real estate after joining www.financialmentor.com. I learned how there are three investment vehicles for building wealth paper assets, real estate, and small business. But that real estate and small business are the only vehicles that can be used to create wealth beyond what you already have.
After reading this I googled real estate investing, which lead me to BP. After reading my first article by Brandon Turner, The Top 100 Ways to Make Money in Real Estate. I joined the site and I've been hooked since, reading different blogs and posts. I just finished reading the BP's Ultimate Beginners Guide and am excited to start reading the remaining BP's books.
My main goal with real estate investing is to create financial freedom. The strategies I'm interested in are BRRRR, buy and hold, and wholesaling. I'm also interested in getting into note investing in the future.
I'm also a member of the local real estate group MCREIA.
You have come to the right place to connect with the wide array of real estate professionals and investors. Make sure to view the Bigger Pockets book store: https://www.biggerpockets.com/store
Thanks, yeah I took advantage of the sale back in January and bought all of the BP books. Happy to be apart of a great community!
@Cameron Small good luck and awesome thoughts! I am solely focused on note investing, slow and steady it goes. We are ramping up for a bigger 2017 in the note space. Read up on anything you chose, there is much to learn!
Welcome Cameron Patrick Small . I am new to BP but not new to real estate. As you know, there are endless amounts of information and amazing people willing to share their insights and strategies. I have not been able to make it to one of the MCREI meetings yet, but plan to very soon. In the meantime, if there is anything I can help with, let me know!
Thanks, @Jay Raught and @Michael Tincher, yeah I've only been to one meeting so far. I was told there is also a TN valley investors group that meets for free. I plan on checking them out soon.
@Cameron Small Welcome to BP, from a fellow Alabamian! It's amazing how much you can learn looking around on these message boards. People are seriously so knowledgeable and helpful. I'm from a trading background as well, but looking to grow in RE.
Welcome to BP!!!..@Cameron Small..AL is a great Market to invest in....Adding my RE license took my business to another level in 2016....2017 Rocks!!!
Thanks, @Rolanda Eldridge, what method did you use to educate yourself so you could get your license?
@Cameron Small...I took a Cram course thru a local RE company in Birmingham...Pre license in the classroom worked well, but I completed Post online...My experience as an investor 10 yrs made the classroom course easier....
@Rolanda Eldridge, Thanks!
Cameron Patrick Small Welcome to BP from another fellow Alabamian. There is a wealth of knowledge on here that I myself am only beginning to be able to discover. I wish you the best of luck in all of your investing!
Thanks @Andrew Samples and same to you.
Welcome @Cameron Small! I am a noob as well and can't echo enough just how helpful BP and its community have been for me. Enjoy the reading and the connections. I can't offer much in terms of knowledge and experience but can definitely offer some encouragement.
@Rolanda Eldridge just sent you a connect invite. would love to chat about how the license has positively impacted your business if you get a few minutes soon.
Welcome to BP. Continue to network and connect with as many 'players' in your area as possible. I'm up in Chicago, but if you ever need anything feel free to reach out! Best of luck to you in your investing.
Thanks, @Casey Trawick and @David Walls, best of you luck you guys as well!
