Hello Aliou, welcome to BP and congratulations on making the decision to invest in Huntsville, AL. I was born and raised in Huntsville and have been in real estate here since 2005. I am also an investor currently trying to grow my portfolio. Feel free to reach out to me regarding any questions on the area or investing.

@Cameron Dearmon let me know if I can be of any service.  I don't consider myself an expert but I have lived in Huntsville my whole life(except college years), have been a realtor since 2005, have flipped many houses, holding two SF, and under contract on my first 4-plex.

I too am always down to grab a drink and discuss business opportunities!

@Paige Hutchinson We recently purchased our first vacation rental in Orange Beach and have not regretted it one bit, even after damages from Hurricane Sally and the softball size hail storm my complex was hit with.  We have had challenges with finding the supplies and the help down there for the repairs due to the condition of the economy but it's getting done.

Prior to Hurricane Sally we were completely booked up with renters all while managing it ourselves.  We only use VRBO currently and have found it very easy to use.  We plan on purchasing another condo in the near future.  Feel free to message me with any questions.  I am no expert as this is our first one, but happy to bounce ideas/thoughts back and forth.

Hello @Michael Hansen, I also come from an investing family as my father was flipping houses before it was a tv show.  I grew up in Huntsville, AL and currently am part owner of our real estate company and do some investing myself.  Feel free to contact me directly with any questions in getting started.

As you will see with your further search on investing in Huntsville, it is EXTREMELY competitive right now!  Good investment properties literally only last hours on the market right now.  The last four properties I purchased fell in to my lap due to my regular realtor marketing(not marketing as an investor).  Figure out what type of investment property you want to start with and what budget you have to work with so that you are ready to pull the trigger once you find a property.

You will have much better luck with 35805 for multi-family or rental property.  35801 is one of the more high end and desirable areas of Huntsville.  35805 is showing a lot of improvements with developments, so there has been quite a bit of investing in these areas and properties typically won't last a couple of days once hitting the market.

I am interested in the group as well as I think it is a great idea and something everyone can take advantage from.  I am a Huntsville native and have been a real estate agent for 15 years.  I have been flipping homes for the last five years and am just now getting in the rental game.  I may not have a whole lot of advice to give in the buy and hold as you other experienced investors but I am interested in the group as I am looking to add to my portfolio and become a stronger investor.

@Shelby Ashley I have been flipping homes for 7 years and started purchasing rental properties last year.  I've lived in Huntsville my entire life except for the four years in college, and have been doing real estate for 14 years. Feel free to reach me directly for any questions regarding investing or getting your license.
