Hello all!

My name is Brad and I currently live in the Houston area, Richmond to be exact. I teach business and coach football and basketball at the high school level full time. As you can suspect, I want to supplement this income with real estate investing, but the amount of time I have to dedicate is sparse. I have moved to Houston from the Charlotte area in March 2015, so I'm still learning a lot about this sprawling metropolis.

I have joined BP to learn more about all aspects of real estate investing. I know this sounds like the kiss of death, but I plan to start investing by wholesaling a few deals this year. When I have built my business up enough, I plan on focusing on buy and hold properties with a few flips as they present themselves. So far, the toughest part of my market seems to be high property tax (2.5 -3.3%) and lack of multifamily units (in the suburbs at least).

I have already started reading a couple of books, and listening to the BP podcast. I have also been fortunate in finding a very helpful investor in my area that I hope to form a mentor relationship with. I would love to find some meet up groups to continue networking and growing my knowledge in REI. I look froward to being a part of the BP community. Happy Investing!!!

Welcome to BP, @Brad Moody. Without time, money, and knowledge it will be hard so focus on what you can change for now and learn as much as you can. It's good you found a local mentor to help you so find out what you can do for that person to help them in their business and become indispensable to them.

And you are right about the small multis. Houston in general just does not have that much. There are some around the Stafford area, which is not too far from you.
