New Investor in Oklahoma City

Hello!

My name is Stacia and I am new to BiggerPockets and the real estate investing industry. Over the past month, I have dug pretty deep into research regarding real estate investing, and I have decided I want to take the next step and start purchasing properties. I currently work as an engineer at an oil and gas company, but I want to use real estate to supplement my current income with rental property passive income. As of now, I am seeking out multifamily properties in the Oklahoma City area. My short term goal is to have 2 properties by January 2018 and my long term goals are a little less concrete, but I would like to purchase 1-2 properties every year over the next 10 years. I also have some interest in investing in real estate notes and would love to get in touch with anyone in the Oklahoma City area who has experience with purchasing them. Ever since I made the decision to become a real estate investor, I have not been able to turn the BiggerPockets podcast off! I am very excited about getting in touch with other real estate investors , eventually forming a portfolio and team, and learning more about this industry.

Great beginning goals Stacia! OKC is a great market, but I feel its a bit frothy at the moment... I might suggest to have your end goals more concrete. This way you can start with the end in mind!

Im a full time local investor (who has currently been traveling internationally for the last 1.5 years) not a realtor, but Im more than happy to share anything I know about the real estate game.  Enjoy, and dream biiiiiiig!!!!

    Welcome Stacia Leonard !

Petroleum engineering is very rewarding and it is smart to put aside a good chunk for investing into assets not as dependent on commodity prices. I am a Petroleum Engineer myself and continue to invest in OKC real estate despite living in Glenwood Springs, CO.

Thanks for the welcome everyone! @Trevor Shettron I actually saw you posted about a duplex through my keyword alerts. Since I am interested in multifamily I would definitely be interested in talking with you sometime about multifamily properties in the OKC area.

be ready to get your hands dirty.  no alot of newer multi family in okc that are good for cash flow also.  if you want to make some cash in the long and short term you need to be open to something that is a project.
