Insider from Kansas City

So today as I am holding my new born Daughter (born Nov 3 11:25p) Staring her in her eyes, thinking about the future while she grasp on to my finger. Reminding me that I now have 3 girls and a wife who depend on me. With the thought of the 3 weddings, 3 colleges, 8 cars, and lots of guns I will need to pay for in the near future. I wonder how I have not started securing our future. I feel like I should know more then I do by now, Being a "insider" and all . I have succesfully Reno'd 47 Single family homes all over the Kansas City market in the last year for just one Investor. Not to mention countless other investment jobs. I have stopped investors from making bad buy's, saved them thousands on repairs, I have Meet and missed deadlines, Picked out tile and picked up dog crap. All in the name of real estate investing. Yet I have not taken the proper steps to secure my own financial freedom. I feel like I have a unique perspective of the industry being a contractor that caters to Investors. But being a "insider" has not translated to "investor". It is more of an excuse than anything, but I have been inundated with the daily grind of project managment and growing my General Contracting business. I want to vow today with god and the great people of Biggerpockets. I will buy my first rental property in the next 3 months. I will take any words of wisdom offered.
