My name is Don Spafford, my background is in investments, my wife, Maria, is a Realtor and I have been essentially working with her for many years learning with her. We have been interested in real estate investing for many years but did not have the capital or knowledge on how to get capital to do it. I grew up in Omaha, NE and received much knowledge in investments the Warren Buffet way. My wife is from Paraguay but moved to Omaha to marry me in 2001. We moved from Omaha to Idaho Falls, ID in 2015 to help care for my mother who suffers from MS. Maria had to start over her Real Estate business in Idaho Falls and we decided it would be a great time to finally start investing as well. Our needs and priorities have changed and we want to focus more on investment properties as a main source of income to have time to spend with family and to help our parents.

We recently attended a seminar presented by Fortune Builders and we were very interested in doing it that way, but the up-front cost was more than we wanted to take on, especially with the moving expenses we already took on and the marketing expenses we are paying to get my wife's business running here. At that seminar I met another investor who is using Bigger Pockets and referred me to look into it.

What we need is some guidance on how to acquire private lenders to do rehab deals and we also want to acquire commercial apartment buildings to generate passive income and be able to leverage the building to acquire other buildings. I enjoy the training videos and podcasts, but it helps to have personal contact.

We both have the determination and the knowledge to make this all happen, but what we lack is someone to help us get it done, to show us the ropes, so to speak. If we can get help to get a good start, and a place like this to ask questions and get good answers, we will be able to achieve our dream and be able to give back and help others do the same.
