New "wanna be" Wholesaler.

Hello Bigger Pockets!

Id like to start out by introducing myself. My name is Francisco Lopez, I am a 19 year old college student studying business. Out of high school I planned on getting my bachelors degree in nursing. My goal was to work in the bloodiest and goriest area of a hospital, making 60-80K/ year. At the time that excited me and I believed that id live happily doing that and making that much money. That all changed when my older brother introduced me to the real estate investing world. A world where making 60-80K can be done in 2-3 months(if done correctly). Learning this changed my outlook of many things almost instantly. It seemed that I was settling with a nursing degree instead of becoming a full fledged doctor and that bothered me. I instantly knew that I wouldn't truly be happy with that because of the fact that I was "settling" with being a nurse and making a mediocre salary. Since that day I generated a hunger for success and money. After quitting my job as a CNA back in march of this year, I began working full-time under my brother, (a brand new real estate investor). My goal was to learn and pick up on as much as I could while completing the daily tasks of an assistant. While working for him he has put together two wholesale deals, three rehabs, and two more rehabs that are still being worked on. With that said, I have a general idea of how to put together a deal and close on it. Obviously that is easier said than done. Since I have only have the experience that an assistant would have, I do not know the ins and outs of a wholesale deal. My thought is that if I get out of the safe bubble that is working under my brother, I will be able to learn more about the business by actually doing the hands on work. I am not scared of failure because I believe that failure is the worlds greatest teacher.

My reason for coming to bigger pockets and reaching out to you folks is for your advice and any help that you can offer me. I am open to any tips as well as criticism that you may have. I currently live in Greensboro, NC but am mostly interested in the Charlotte market. I have little money to use, but like I said I am extremely motivated and will do whatever it takes to make it in this business. Id love to have someone in the charlotte area guide me through my first few deals, but will take any kind of help offered to me. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this post! I look forward to building lots of relationships as well making lots of money with you folks.

Sure. Get to work:) If you're willing to learn and do the work you'll get there. I've found that many starting out feel that they need to learn everything before they do something, but learning what you need to know for your first step and then doing it helps avoid distraction and being overwhelmed. Just go step by step - learning and doing along the way - and you'll end up with a deal and then possess the knowledge of how it works. It's just repeat and keep learning from there. I know I'm making it sound simple. It is simple...it's just not usually easy, but the work and perseverance are the answer to that.
