I am a single parent working a good IT job. As I am getting older, I am realizing corporate America and I are not gelling well together. I am in my 40s and have a long way to go before I can actually retire from my high stress job (although I dream of it every day). Probably a noob thing - I do get enticed by the real estate wonder stories in the media. So what's stopping me from stepping into the real estate world? Partly the fear of unknown and losing all my savings. And partly because I do not know anyone who can guide me. I am looking for meetup groups, suggestions on how to get a jump start on investing in real estate. Not a book - I prefer human interaction. Any suggestions?
