Hey Bigger Pockets,
I found the site from the podcast. Which I enjoy listening to for tips and inspiration and reminders of stuff I know but often forget.
I got into real estate in 2010 as an agent. I am still an agent but just working with friends and family at this point, So that I have more time to flip properties.
I bought my first flip in 2012 with a couple of partners. Done about 30 flips now mostly with partners but some solo and have 5 projects going currently and 3 in escrow. I am now looking to hang on to some of these as rentals. Working on getting a commercial loan to hold a first batch of about five. I am excited to build a passive income stream and have a longer term goal to buy an apartment building. For now my cash is tied up in keeping the flipping business going.
I love the flexibility that investing allows me. I am often out running around but also get to spend a bunch of time working from home, spending time with my wife and 20 month old daughter.
In honor of the podcast... The F a m o u s F o u r ......
1. favorite real estate book is The Miracle Morning for Real Estate Agents By Hal Elrod and others
2. favorite business book The four hour work week by Tim Ferris (awesome podcast big fan of anything he put out there, he has changed my life. )
3. For fun I like to play basketball, go skiing
4. I think that what separates those that have had success in real estate from those who haven't is that they take action and are not paralyzed by fear. I think that it is important to understand the risks and rewards. My most successful flip was one that another investor turned down because he felt it was too risky. I think that understanding comps is the most important skill that I have developed.
