Hello everyone! Long-time podcast listener, first-time forum user. My name is Macy and I'm originally from Iowa, but moved to Boston, MA a little over a year ago. I oversee the marketing department for a children's publishing company and my significant other, David, is a mechanical engineer. While we love our careers, we're ready to jump into the world of real estate investing more, with the goal of someday having that as a larger part of our family income. After lots of research, podcasts, books and trainings, I think we're actually ready to do this! We're currently looking to purchase in Iowa, as costs are more affordable and we have parents with an HVAC and electrical company that will be a huge benefit not only from a cost standpoint, but as a resource should any emergencies come up. We'd love any advice and mentorship, especially from those in the Boston area or Iowa area. We'd be happy to return the favor however we can! Thank you in advance, and thank you to Bigger Pockets for the ongoing training and resources.

Hi Macy,

Welcome to Bigger Pockets, as I'm sure you've already seen there is so much information here to help you get started and the community is extremely helpful as well.  I am a realtor in the southeastern MA area so please let me know if there's anything I can help you with in this area.  Boston is definitely a tough market to start off in, but if you do decide to stay in state then there are certainly affordable deals in the surrounding areas.

Good luck!
