Newb from Chicago - MFR 2-4plex investor
Hello to my new BP team,
Background:
I'm a Chicago native, I come from the IT sector (8 years), jumping ship and getting my feet wet in real estate investing full time begins now.
Goals:
Near-term, I'm looking to gain employment with a property management team in Chicago, and at the same time build my own portfolio- looking for a MFR 2-4 unit (staying under 5 for now), using a 203K.
Long-term, develop the tools needed to manage properties, and improve in areas of analysis, accounting, marketing, and ways to hedge assets. Build a network with other investors.
Accomplished:
- Real estate broker's licence
- Investment fund
In Progress:
- LLC
- Building a team (Agent, contractor, lender, CPA, attorney)
I'm looking forward to learning from the community and hopefully contributing as well, hope to meet some of you soon.

Matt - Welcome to BP! I would not quit your day job just yet if you are looking to buy, you need 2 years of tax returns in your current field to use the income to qualify. So if you make a job change now it is going to be hard to get a loan.
