Hey Everyone!

My name is Connor Bratten and I am a Scrum Master working in downtown Detroit. I grew up in the metro Detroit area, left the state for college, and moved back in with my parents after graduation to work and save up money. My first (and only so far) real estate experience is with my current home which I purchased and have slowly been renovating.

I have always been a person who has saved my money up so that when I wanted something I could afford it. Now that I have my own house, and the fact that I am currently in a great dual income no kids situation I want to look at how I can start to put my money to work. My wife and I plan to have kids sometime in the future which means I will no longer be in the low expenses scenario I am in today. With that in mind my goal for my real estate investing is to replace my wife's income (and more!) so that she could stay home with kids if she wants to.

In my free time I am either coding, playing video games, or working on my house. I plan to add investing to this list as I get my house renovations finished. So far I have been investing my commute into the BP podcast and some nights/lunches to the forum. I am not completely set on one niche area but so far I am leaning towards rental properties as I don't want a second job. My goal is to make my first investment sometime late 2016/early 2017.

I am really excited to finally post here and I'd love to chat with anyone who is investing in rentals in the metro Detroit area and learn from their experience. So far the BP podcast has been pretty brutal to Detroit but to me that sounds like opportunity.

@Connor Bratten

Welcome to BP, i think we are in the same boat here. Am new to real estate investing and in Metro Detroit area. What i do right now is educating myself and learning different exit strategies. This forum is a good way to start and attending meetups in the area.

Let me know if you need any help.
