New Guy in New York

Hello,

My name is Evan Thomas, and I'm from Lancaster, PA. I went to school at Fordham, and now I live in NYC and work in White Plains, NY. I took one REI course at Fordham, but it didn't appeal to me at the time because I was pursuing jobs at the big Wall Street banks. I now work at PepsiCo as a finance analyst, and 10 months in I've decided that I don't want to work at a typical corporate finance job for my entire life. After listening to a dozen (so far) of the bigger pockets podcasts, I'd like to get into the real estate field. Here's the little that I've figured out so far: I have no money, I would like to get into sourcing deals (for a commission and to learn about the industry) or flipping as a path toward buy & hold down the road, and I would like to create a passive income stream to support myself while I find what I truly love to do (if it isn't REI and surfing).

The biggest challenge I'm facing is where to start learning in what appears to be a massive web of REI information. If you have any tips, I would greatly appreciate all of them.

Thank you,

Evan
