Newly interest in Real Estate

Hello All,

I'm am a fresh student, currently military separating very soon, who doesn't know anything at all about real estate. I found myself in a Fortune Builders Workshop and thought to myself "is this what real estate is really about". The information was good but the pitch to insinuate that if we aren't in the inner circle we won't have as good of a chance wasn't what i was looking for. The conference focused on the rewards and positive feedback on how investing we give you more money than your normal job now. Also the $25,000 fee for an education program, with no degree, had to be the cherry on top telling me there's defiantly another way to start my new journey. So I am here looking for a mentor or guru to help me take some steps towards my goals. I am located in New Orleans but soon will be moving to Dallas Tx. If there is any tips you have, I would love to learn from the brilliant minds of others.

Welcome Justin,

You found the place to get started.  Find the Bigger Pockets Ultimate Beginners Guide for the basics. That will layout the whole landscape for you so you can decide what interests you and where you want to get started digging deeper.

Then start listening the the BiggerPockets podcast with @Joshua Dorkin and @Brandon Turner.  The episodes cover all aspects of Real Estate from beginner to very experienced.  Pick some topics you want to listen to and start there.  Then go back and work through all of them (a podcast player that will play back at 2x helps). TONS of great info there.

As you learn, ask questions or use the search here to read up more on areas of interest.  There are a lot of good folks in the Dallas, Texas area on here as well. Take some folks to coffee. Keep learning and working and you will  find the help you need at the time...  This whole place can be your guru and mentor...

Welcome to the beginning of the journey.  Just keep taking one step at a time, and move to your future.
