My name is Terri O'Brien and I currently own two homes using one as a rental.  I didn't intend to be a landlord, thinking I could never afford to own two homes at the same time as a single woman, but when I couldn't sell my house and the house I wanted was up for sale, I asked my banker if it was possible.  So I worked it out, got a lease from some tenants for a year, and now I am a landlord...and I don't want to stop here! I would like to acquire more rental properties, but I just don't know how this is done without having cash to buy something else.

I am reading The Book on Rental Property Investing by Brandon Turner and he recommended this website, so here I am.  I am also thinking of taking an on line realtor course (I am a legal assistant currently - which pays my bills).  Any advice would be appreciated.  Thank you!

@Terri O'Brien welcome. I didn't see how I could get my third house either but once I started scratching around it's amazing where you can come up with money for real estate. The first step it to figure out what you want to buy. Once you do that then you look at all your resources. You might have a 401K that you can borrow money from. You then pay yourself the rate. If you buy right you can refi and get all your cash back and repeat the process. Several ways to skin the cat if you are really committed.
