Hello all,

My name is Will Coleman, I have been very interested in real estate for a while and I am now planning to take action here soon. My plan is to invest in a single family or duplex in Dallas or Arlington Texas in order to live in my investment for a year or two, house hacking as they call it. Anyways, I am here to learn and connect as much as possible. I hope to meet as many people in the area as I can and to learn as much from them before I make my first investment.

@Will Coleman - welcome to BP and REI!

@Alfredo O. - HUD homes are typically listed as owner-occupant status initially, and if no one buys, transition to investor status. If you buy as an owner-occupant, they want you to live in it for some period of time (not sure how long it is these days), but if you pick up the house once it is in investor status than you can rent it straight away. Go to www.hudhomestore.com - there is a drop down menu where you can select buyer type if you are just looking for the houses in investor status.  I have found the smart phone app is easier to use than the general website.
