New Investor seeking advice in Atlanta Area

Hi Everyone!

I'm a new investor in the Atlanta area...I stumbled upon this site during the process of educating myself about the RE business. There is a wealth of information on here that I've found extremely helpful. Thank you BiggerPockets!!! I would love to connect with a more experienced investor to ask a few questions. I'm interested in purchasing Single Family Homes to flip and resell. I'm eager to get started but hesitant to jump out there. Some of my questions has me turning in circles with trying to find a starting point. Do I talk to a broker to recommend a good agent? Should I start with getting approval from a lender? What about finding contractors to do the work?  or does it make sense to start with an agent? Decisions, decisions....What's your take on this? School me please....Thanks in advance!!

Hi Antoinette, you are off to a great start. There are great resources on this site, and Atlanta has a great network of investors to connect with.

The ultimate first step is to know what you want in as much detail as possible. If it's a flip then know what type of house you want and why; what street and neighborhood and why. That's what you give to your Wholesaler/Agent. Next, know your abilities, are you handy, do you understand investment numbers and know how to calculate them, do you network well. Do you have money or do you need money. These answers will help you build your skills and your team.

If you write out as many questions as you can think of you will start to see answers and non-answers. That will give you a pretty good idea of what you need to start.

Best of luck!!
