A Newbie in the Northeast

Howdy,

I am mid-twenty Mechanical Engineer by day, but a hobby personal finance blogger by night.  I am currently living and working outside of Boston, but I have a committed girlfriend that I visit very often in central New Jersey.

Besides helping my parents taking care of their home and being handy, I do not have much experience as a real estate investor.  I do enjoy reading books and forums, listening to the podcasts, and talking about it with my family.

I blog about what I am learning about as a way to further my knowledge.  I am interested in learning more and more about real estate investing, becoming a landlord, and possibly doing a flip or two.

I enjoy what I do currently, but after listening Rich Dad, Poor Dad and others, I would like to create more income streams.  I wouldn't mind if they are passive or not.

Anyways, thanks for the welcomes and I'll see you around!

Thanks,

Hi Paul, welcome to BP.

This is a great place to learn. Make sure to listen to all the BP podcasts, read the articles on the main blog and be active in these forums to learn a ton very quickly about any topic in real estate you want to know more about.

This is also a great place to meet people that can be assets to your business. Lots of great connections all over but we also have a very strong and active contingent here in MA on here so make sure to find them (Set up some keyword alerts to find out about local topics) and get connected.

Besides doing that on here make sure to get out to some of the many local investor events we have.  As mentioned a couple times that Black Diamond meetings are very good about you should check them out.  The Worcester one is a no brainer since it is the closet one to you.  The Waltham one is more of a hike but the meetings have totally different topics and not a ton of overlap in attendance so worth hitting both.  Besides those there are not many options right by you but around a dozen or so options a little more east running from the Cape up to Manchester, NH.
