Hi guys,I am 20 years old and live in San Diego, California. I plan on getting my RE license real soon. My goals are to become a realtor and invest in income properties in my area. After I get my RE license what should I do? Go to a brokerage? Contact other RE Agents? Find a mentor? I have no experience in the field at all and I would like to know what I should do to get started. Thank You! Any response is appreciated!

Stone,

You will be getting a California BRE Salesperson license, which means you must put your license with a Licensed broker.  If you are mainly going to do your own deals, I recommend not going with one of the big name chains.  You will most likely have production requirements and they will usually take a bigger cut out of your commissions.  The big companies have name recognition, but in reality, people are going to do business with you if they like you, trust you and feel you are competent.  If you do not have that...it does not matter what big company name you have behind you.

In my opinion, it is better to go with an independent company where you can just pay a flat fee per deal.

Yes, you should find a mentor...or even a couple that have expertise in different areas you want to explore.

Take advantage of websites like this one that have great educational resources and many experienced people willing to help you.

I hope that helps...Good luck!
